Classes to Build Website Strategy and Development

We have developed these classes to help directly in specific areas of the web. When you build a website, no matter if you are a small concept or an investor funded business, all of the strategies apply. You need to be aware of SEO, your global and online reputation, how to interact with customers, readers and potential customers, and so on. And you must balance all of these things at once. It is with this mindset that Katie James Pixelated approaches website designs and market projects.

These classes are taught in partnership with Collective-E (of which Katie is a co-founder). If the class is not being offered at this time, you can click to buy one of the strategy guides to give you useful tools and ideas you can start using right away.

Childbirth Connection
We were involved with the design and development of the overall navigation and sitemap, and developed a custom-built content management system for this content-heavy website. This website speaks to two audiences: women and health professionals, so the navigation and user experience had to account for that. A registered user situation was created for this site, requiring users to register if they wanted to download a free PDF. We also designed their newsletter. We conduct ongoing services for Childbirth Connection, including SEO research; analysis of their Google Analytics; newsletter development, analyzing of clickthroughs and open rate; annual appeal enewsletter design and development; Twitter and Facebook account creation and content population; database management with eTapestry, and any need that arises.

Print: New Mothers Speak Out (based on an existing design of sister booklet)

Purcell Sisters
Several years ago, the Purcell Sisters wrote a book, Cocktail Parties Straight Up!, and had a website built to showcase their growing press. That website was built entirely in images, which meant that it was not searchable by websites, and it was time consuming (ie pricey) to maintain. The Purcell Sisters wanted an SEO friendly site because they were going to put all of their recipes from their book onto the web. We fully redesigned this website and made it inherently SEO friendly. They also wanted to maintain their site content, so we built page templates for the recipes that are very easy to put content into. We also designed a newsletter template for their newsletter, Sisters' Secrets to Confident Entertaining.

Gemma Redux had an existing visual design that was based on a custom built content management system and server. We converted that setup to a ZenCart based platform, keeping the ease of use on the backend for Gemma Redux to add their own products, yet allowed for more efficient maintenance and overall control. We broke apart ZenCart and put it back together in order to follow the style with the moving images and selection of products. From the initial conversion, we built and designed their press section, and a lookbook section, which is available only to the press for early releases of collections.
Content Management System: ZenCart

The translation of this company is "Rain Rain", and they specialize in outerwear and umbrellas for fashionable dashes in the rain. The founder came to us with a design already in place, but needed it built. We built her vision using ZenCart and were able to successfully keep all of her designer's visions when it came to zooming in on images, size selection, and more.
Content Management System: ZenCart

This project was done in partnership with Collective-E's Agency Experience. Several angles needed to be met, namely simplifying the shopping experience and showing press and testimonials. The design of this website already existed, but needed tightening. We "cutified" this website by stylizing the top navigation, creating a newsletter signup box, improved testimonial page, and more. Because nomiebaby started with one product with several color options, we brought multiple Quantity boxes to the product page, so that the customer could select several colors in one click.
